Fool Me Once – Harlan Coben

I love a good mystery. My favorite way to read them is to find an already established series and discover it from the beginning. By reading this way, I usually have a book or two from ongoing series ready to be pulled to the top of my TBR pile at any time.  But, sometimes, it’s great to have a solid stand-alone mystery that you can pick up without any long-term commitment. Fool Me Once is the perfect one-off mystery to pick up for a good solid story. The protagonist is Maya, a former special operations pilot. While Maya was deployed overseas, her sister was killed.  As the novel opens,  we meet Maya, returned from service and her husband, too, has been shot and killed just two weeks prior. Truth and deceit weigh heavily as themes in this fast paces and twisty novel.
