Happy Family – Tracy Barone

This novel is the perfect summer read. Quick paced and quick-witted, this novel goes beyond plot to explore  a greater theme throughout. Not surprisingly the theme here is family in all its many forms (birth family, foster family, adoptive family, secret family, extended family). The protagonist explores all of these as well as asks the questions:  what do we owe family;  how do the pigeon holes that families make for us affect our self-image and what makes a family.
