This Close to Okay – Leesa Cross-Smith

~ CELEBRATING BLACK AUTHORS FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH~

Out today!

Leesa Cross-Smith presented her novel Whiskey and Ribbons at the 2018 Decatur Book Festival and I was immediately hooked on her writing. In her latest, This Close to Okay, 40 year old Tallie Clark, a therapist, sees a man on a bridge on her way home from work. Noticing his strange behavior, she convinces him not to jump from the bridge.  In a huge leap of faith (and, it should be noted, with some safety precautions) she befriends the man, and allows him to stay in her apartment. The two slowly become friends in spite of the secrets they keep from one another. This lovely novel is not a romance, but a glorious tribute to seeing the humanity in one another and asking for and accepting help when we need it. Cross-Smith adeptly addresses mental health issues in this page-turning, hopeful novel.

I received an advanced copy of this novel from the publisher via net Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
