Sarahland – Sam Cohen

Celebrating Women’s History Month

New this month!

In this whimsical and astonishingly original story collection, Sam Cohen imagines the lives of women who are named Sarah.  Throughout the stories, Cohen examines the constraints of womanhood, Jewish identity, and queerness. The author gives many winks to Sarahs in history and popular culture and every story presents something clever and unique.  My favorite story in the volume is “The First Sarah,” a retelling of the Genesis story of Sarah, Abraham and Hagar through a queer lens.
